Class Notes: The first class features a cleansing set of deep twists, with perhaps the best explanation of two very powerful but not well known asanas: “dying warrior twist”, an asana from Angela Farmer and Victor Van Kooten,  and “Erich’s twist”, named after the well known yoga teacher Erich Schiffmann. The mid-thoracic region is addressed thoroughly throughout, as is the sense of opening the “back of the heart”.

Focus poses and explorations: freeing the mid-spine-- dying warrior and Erich's twist-- a lovely version of trikonasana

Class Notes: This is a class that explores a heightened level of intensity in asana practice, but in a calm, reflective way— and so it’s a lesson in how to find equanimity in the midst of a series of challenging poses. And of course, as most yoga students know, it’s the challenging classes that are often the most rewarding!

Focus poses and explorations: equnamity and intensity-- parvrita parsvakonasana-- upward bow (urdvha dhanurasana) sequence
